How Discarded Carpets are Being Used to Create Striking Floor Tiles
Eco-focused designer, Hannah Williams, is giving refurbished carpets a new life– as marbled patterned rubber tiles. The innovative idea combines marble patterned silicone and scrapped carpets to create flexible?sheets that can be used to create?walls, flooring, ceilings, upholstery, decorative items, and accessories. The hybrid tiles are available?in two versions; one is composed of 100% silicone, the other is a blend of 50% silicone and 50% polypropylene (PP).?The hybrid material is waterproof, durable,?and slip resistant.
But how is the beautiful?marble pattern created? Colors are handmade from primary pigments, then spread through the silicone while it’s still in the liquid stage before curing and solidifying, which creates a one-of-a-kind pattern. Striking features, with a sustainable purpose? That’s the best combo we could ask for.
